Jordanian government Tuesday confirmed the killing of the pilot held captive by the Islamic State(IS), Xinhua reported citing the state-run Petra new agency.

Jordan Armed Forces said Tuesday it will take revenge for the killing of the pilot.

The army said in a statement that it tried to secure his release but the criminal gang of IS insisted to kill him.

Relatives of Jordanian pilot also condemned his killing, and called for revenge.

Several members of the pilot started gathering in Amman after the IS released a video showing the pilot burnt alive.

Samer Kasasbeh called for revenge and urged Jordan to withdraw from the international coalition fighting the IS.

The pilot was captured last year after his plane crashed in Syria.

Relatives expressed their anger over killing him alive. They said he is a martyr and a national hero.
