India's top doubles badminton pair of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa congratulated compatriot Kidambi Srikanth for beating two-time Olympic champion Lin Dan in the final to clinch the China Open Super Series Premier men's singles title in Fuzhou Sunday.
"My heartiest congratulations to Srikanth..well done...amazing victory," tweeted Jwala.
Ashwini tweeted: "Wow!! Srikanth won the Men's Singles China Premier SS!!! Pretty unbelievable stuff! Congratulations!"
Srikanth grabbed all the headlines by pulling off the biggest upset of his career when he beat five-time World Champion 'Super' Dan to win the men's singles title at the $700,000 tournament.
Earlier, Saina Nehwal also won the women's singles title by overcoming Japanese Akane Yamaguchi 21-12, 22-20 in 42 minutes at the Haixia Olympic Sport Center.
