Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan, who has worked with R. Madhavan in Tamil drama "Anbesivam", has wished the latter for his upcoming film "Saala Khadoos", in which he plays a boxing coach.
The trailer of "Saala Khadoos" was released on Tuesday. On the occasion, Madhavan paid tribute to Haasan, whom he considers his mentor.
Haasan, however, said he doesn't treat Madhavan as his protege, but as his friend.
"When I first cast Madhavan in a film I had written, his role was secondary to mine. We enjoyed working on the film. When everybody saw the film, they felt that the two roles were equal. That's why I like Madhavan and that's why he could've mistaken me for mentor," Haasan said.
Describing Madhavan as "hardworking", Kamal said he deserves all the success he has been getting.
"From beefing up his body and thinking about the script, I can see he's very passionate about the film. I also wondered how he's going to play 'khadoos'. I think he has to tuck away his smile away somewhere through the film," he added.
Kamal wished the entire team of "Saala Khadoos", including its producer Rajkumar Hirani.
Directed by debutante Sudha Kongara, the film features Madhavan in the lead role, as a boxing coach, who has a reputation of being a hard task-master.
