Corporal Deepak Pandey, a resident of Mangla Vihar here, was killed after an Indian Air Force (IAF) Mi-17 transport chopper crashed in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district on Wednesday morning.
The report of his death was communicated to his father Ram Prakash Pandey, a retired private servant, by the Srinagar airbase, a close relative said.
Pandey was the only child in the family and had joined the IAF five years back.
Senior officials of the Uttar Pradesh government and Industries Minister Satish Mahana visited the house of the deceased.
Mahana consoled the family members and said that the state government was with them in this hour of grief.
