A militant of the banned Karbi People's Liberation Tiger (KPLT) outfit and another person linked to the group have been arrested by the CRPF and Assam Police, an official said on Tuesday.
KPLT cadre Jona Singh Rongpi, 28, and an aide Ranjit Bhumji were arrested from Jamindar Teron in Assam's Karbi Anglong district during a search operation.
The Central Reserve Police Force and state police personnel also recovered an AK-56 rifle, live ammunition, grenades and a khukri from the two men.
The KPLT has its base in Dima Hasao district of Assam and parts of Arunachal Pradesh.
However, the outfit is most active in the Karbi Anglong district. The outfit claims it is equipped with modern weaponry.
