The first trailer of Australian drama comedy "The Dressmaker" features actress Kate Winslet as a dress designer.

The movie centers on a dress designer who returns to her Australian home, from which she fled as a child after being accused of murder.

The trailer opens with Myrtle Dunnage, played by Winslet, arriving in her hometown in a remote area.

"I don't know why you return to this home," Myrtle's mother says in the trailer.

Not only her mother, but also other inhabitants in the town are not happy about her return.

"She's back! The murderer is back," one of the neighbours yells. It turns out that Myrtle is not as bad as people think about her. She makes changes to her environment with her sense of fashion.

She transforms a nerd girl into a stunning girl by making her a fabulous dress which makes the girl become the centre of attention in a party.

"I can make you the most striking girl in the room," Myrtle says.

Following the party, many other women ask Myrtle to make them beautiful dresses. Despite her impressive career as a dressmaker in the town, Myrtle still struggles to overcome the murder issue which continues circling her life with the help of her love interest, Teddy McSwiney (Liam Hemsworth).

Based on a popular novel of the same name by Rosalie Ham, the movie is slated for a release in the US on October 22. It also features Judy Davis, Isla Fisher and Elizabeth Debicki.
