London Olympic champion Katie Ledecky has bettered her own 800 metre freestyle world record in a swimming meet in Texas.
The 17-year-old American clocked eight minutes 11 seconds Sunday, shaving 2.86 seconds off her world best set at the World Championships in Barcelona August last year.
It was the second world record Ledecky shattered in the Texas event. Thursday night she broke her previous record in the 1,500 metre freestyle with a time of 15:34.23, improving on the mark of 15:36.53 she had set in Barcelona.
