Argentine Mario Kempes, former player and international ambassador of Valencia football club, lamented on Monday that the Spanish team is currently trying to avoid relegation instead of thinking about qualification for the European Champions League.
The former Argentine star tweeted that what is currently happening is regrettable for the Spanish side, which is about to be relegated instead of qualifying for the Champions League, reports Efe.
Kempes added that support will be given to the team so that they can hopefully move away from this situation soon, after the Spanish club played 12 La Liga games without a win and is four points clear of the drop zone.
Kempes played for Valencia from 1976 to 1984, when he was La Liga top scorer in 1977 and 1978 and won the Copa del Rey title and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, in addition to the 1978 FIFA World Cup with his national team.
