Ro Teimumu Kepa, leader of Fiji's Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA), will be the Leader of Opposition in the parliament, a media report said.
The decision was taken at a meeting held between National Federation Party (NFP) leader Biman Prasad and Ro Teimumu at the SODELPA office in Suva, fijitimes.com reported Wednesday.
Kepa confirmed her selection as the leader of opposition in the parliament.
Fiji's 50-member parliament is set to have its first sitting in two weeks.
"The meeting was about how the opposition will work as a team to ensure that issues affecting Fijians are given priority," Prasad said.
Fiji's new cabinet ministers are scheduled to be sworn in Wednesday by President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau.
FijiFirst leader Voreqe Frank Bainimarama was Monday sworn in as the prime minister of the South Pacific Ocean island nation, home to a large Indian-origin population.
FijiFirst won 32 seats, SODELPA won 15 while NFP won three seats in the general election held Sep 17.
Ethnic Indians comprise 37 percent of Fiji's population of around 900,000.
Most of them are descendants of indentured labourers who were brought in from India between 1879 and 1916 to work in the country's sugarcane plantations.
