Kerala's Tenth Pay Revision Commission Monday submitted to the state government its recommendations, which include fixing the minimum basic pay of state government employees and teachers at Rs.17,000 and the maximum at Rs.1,20,000.

This will be up from the current minimum salary of Rs.15,300 and the maximum of Rs.1,07,712. Likewise, the minimum pension would be Rs.8,500 and the maximum Rs.60,000, up from the present Rs.4,500 and Rs.29,920. Also the service for full pension has been reduced from 30 years to 25 years.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who received the report, said that all the things will be discussed before a final decision would be taken, while Finance Minister K.M.Mani said that this is going to be a huge financial burden to the state exchequer.

The government will now discuss the issue with all concerned and then it would come before the state cabinet.

The committee that prepared the report has recommended that the revised salary should come into effect from July 1 last year and has also recommended for raising the pension age from 56 to 58 years.
