Sony Pictures has set an August 18, 2017, release for its reboot of "Flatliners", which stars actor Kiefer Sutherland.
Sutherland signed on last week to star alongside Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev, James Norton and Kiersey Clemons.
The shooting for the film is expected to begin in Toronto this week. Sutherland's role in the the reboot is not clear yet, reports variety.com.
Swedish director Niels Arden Oplev is helming the reboot from a script by Ben Ripley. Producers are Laurence Mark and Michael Douglas, who produced the original movie.
The original 1990 movie starred Sutherland, Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, Billy Baldwin and Oliver Platt as medical students exploring near death on the examination table until the consequences began to jeopardise their lives.
Sutherland's character convinced four of his medical school classmates to help him discover what lies beyond death.
