Italian football club Lazio's Argentine midfielder Lucas Biglia will be sidelined for six weeks after he sustained an injury to his left calf during Sunday's Serie A match against Empoli.
The 30-year-old, who was replaced during the last game of the Italian league, on Wednesday told Italian media that he underwent an examination that confirmed his injury and the need for a 45-day rest, reports Efe.
Biglia, who previously suffered a similar injury, will miss the next six matches of the Italian league.
The Lazio captain will not be able to join his national team camp in preparation for the two qualifying games of the 2018 World Cup against Peru on October 7 and Paraguay on October 12.
It is likely that Biglia will return on November 20, when Rome-based Lazio will host Genoa in Serie A.
