Claiming that many of those engaged with polling duty in the West Bengal assembly elections were yet to get postal ballots, the Left Front on Tuesday wrote to the Election Commission seeking its immediate intervention.
"Postal ballots are being collected in the distributing centres depriving polling personnel from exercising their constitutional right to vote. This apprehension was conveyed to the West Bengal chief electoral officer (CEO) during our numerous meetings with him," Left Front chairman Biman Bose said in a letter addressed to Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi.
"A number of polling personnel in South 24 Parganas as also other districts have not yet received their postal ballots.
"It's really unfortunate that no fruitful action has been taken despite our repeated pleas to the EC/CEO," said Bose and demanded immediate intervention in the matter.
