Actor-singer Jared Leto, who plays a transgender AIDS patient named Rayon in "Dallas Buyers Club", was
given the award for best actor in a supporting role at the 86th
Academy Awards held here Sunday evening.
Accompanied by his mother and brother to the event, the award was
presented by actress Anne Hathaway.

The actor had earlier said that he flirted with director Jean-Marc
Vallee for the role in the film.
Earlier this year he won many awards like the Golden Globe and Screen
Actor Guild awards for his role.
This was the first Academy Award nomination for him.Other nominees
were Barkhad Abdi ("Captain Phillips"), Bradley Cooper ("American
Hustle"), Michael Fassbender ("12 Years a Slave") and Jonah Hill ("The
Wolf of Wall Street").
