Parts of the national capital and adjoining Noida and Ghaziabad received light showers late on Thursday afternoon bringing welcome relief from the cloying humidity. The Met office forecast more rain on Friday.

"The sky will remain partly cloudy through the day tomorrow (Friday) and some parts of the city may get rain," said an official of the India Meteorological Department.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 35 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively, on Friday.

The welcome drizzle on Thursday came after an uncomfortable maximum temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius -- four notches above the season's average. The day's maximum humidity was recorded at 67 percent.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 29.2 degrees Celsius - three notches above the season's average.

Wednesday's maximum temperature settled at 37 degrees Celsius, slightly above the season's average, while the minimum was 27 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the season.
