Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez is eager to return to play for the national team even though he still has to miss two matches in punishment of biting Italian player Giorgio Chielini in the World Cup Brazil 2014.
"I am hoping the match bans will come to an end because I am eager and I watch the matches with a lot of nerves," said Suarez during an interview that was broadcast on Thursday via the international channel Gol TV.
The Barcelona striker admitted that "he feels helpless watching the matches on the television".
Uruguay are leading the World Cup Russia 2018 South America Qualifiers with a perfect score after defeating Bolivia 2-0 in La Paz and Colombia 3-0 in Montevideo, reported Xinhua.
The match against Colombia on Tuesday "was broadcast live on Spanish television a bit late in Spain and for that reason I couldn't make much noise but I enjoyed it and I was very happy with the result", said Suarez, according to online news portal montevideo.com.
"We don't depend on anyone; we are only more trusting and united than ever," added the player.
Suarez's punishment includes the November Qualifier matches against Ecuador in Quito and Chile in Montevideo.
The Barcelona player will be able to return to the national team for the match against Brazil in March 2016.
