When it comes to make-up, it seems Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong likes the retro look which she even flaunted recently at an awards function.

At the MTV Movie Awards, the "12 Years A Slave" actress was seen in a Chanel dress and completed the look with make-up inspired by the 1970s disco era.

Make-up artist Nick Barose ensured it was not too outlandish, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

"It's pretty out there. We went with something kind of 1970s disco-inspired, but wearable, not costume-y. When you're wearing a really colourful dress like Lupita's Chanel one, silver is a good option," said Barose.

The make-up artist achieved the disco look with Lancome Aquatique Waterproof Eyecolour Base, Color Design Infinite 24H eye shadow in 'unlimited silver' followed by Color Design eye shadow in 'All That Glitter', a black liquid eyeliner and two coats of mascara on her top lashes.

The look was topped off with a salmon-pink lipstick.

Explaining the lip colour, Barose said: "We didn't want to compete with the eye. This colour isn't too bright, but it still pops."

The actress who loves to have fun with her look was thrilled with her final appearance.

Barose said: "She loved it. She looks good in every colour. We always go for something fun that we haven't done before."
