Hockey lovers of the national capital are set to witness an exciting match between the Delhi Waveriders and Dabur Mumbai Magicians at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here Thursday.
This is the first time in the second season of the Hockey India League (HIL) that these two teams will play against each other. Both teams are gearing up to give tough competition to each other. While Waveriders will try to retain their position in the top-3 of the table, the Magicians will look to cash in a chance to go above Kalinga Lancers.
Waveriders' Wednesday match against the Uttar Pradesh Wizards will give them a chance to test their strength and get ready for the Magicians in a more efficient manner. The Magicians missed a few chances to capitalise in their last match against defending champions Ranchi Rhinos but the team is focusing on implementing strategies with a certain approach.
"The Magicians have played very well in their last game and as the tournament is progressing, every team is becoming tough and getting better. The game will be tough for both the teams and the best team will win it," Waveriders head coach Cedric D'Souza said.
Speaking on Magicians preparations, head coach M.K. Kaushik said: "Our team is fully motivated after giving good performance against Rhinos. We will try to perform better against Waveriders who are a strong team with a balanced midfield and defence. It's not easy to beat them but if our team will play as per plans, I am sure we will win."
