Maldives Elections Commissioner Fuad Thoufeek has said the final results of the presidential run-off will be announced Sunday, a media report said.
Thoufeek, however, said the preliminary results of the run-off will be announced before midnight Saturday, Haveeru.com reported.
The much delayed run-off started Saturday morning.
Voting began at 7.30 a.m. and will continue till 4 p.m. Counting will start 30 minutes after the polls close.
Voters lined up outside polling stations as the country staged the second round of the election to choose a new president amid a constitutional crisis.
The Elections Commissioner urged the people to be patient.
Voting across the Maldives has been smooth so far, the report quoted police as saying.
