Goa leader of opposition Pratapsinh Rane on Thursday alleged that "male prostitution" is rampant in the state's prisons and asked Chief Minster Laxmikant Parsekar to probe the same.
"There is male prostitution among the jail birds. This is something (serious) and these boys are put (together) with hardened criminals," Rane said during the ongoing monsoon session of the Goa legislative assembly.
Rane's comments come two days after an inmate at the Colvale central jail was murdered by a fellow inmate on Tuesday.
"I would request the Chief Minister to make it a point to visit these jails and ask the inmates what their complaints are. These are human problems. We have to take it seriously no matter who is in jail," Rane said.
