A 26-year-old man was arrested here in connection with the murder of a Delhi Development Authority security guard in south Delhi's Munirka area, police said on Sunday.

The arrested person was identified as Rocky, a resident of Naurangabad village of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh. He was currently living at Munirka's Budh Vihar in south Delhi.

According to police, on June 3, the body of a man was recovered from a Delhi Development Authority (DDA) office in Munirka in the morning.

The deceased was identified as Nand Ram, 55, a resident of Jawahar Park, Khanpur in south Delhi. He was employed as security guard at the DDA office there. He was well-acquainted with the residents and used to consume liquor at the office with villagers or other residents, police said.

Investigation revealed that the last person who was seen with the deceased on the fateful day was Rocky. He was arrested from near All India Institute of Medical Sciences on Saturday, police said.

During interrogation, Rocky purportedly admitted to his crime. He revealed that on the night on June 2 he had a heated argument with Nand Ram for liquor which turned into a scuffle.

During the scuffle, the accused slit Nand Ram's throat with a broken whisky bottle and also hit him with a cemented slab on the head killing him, police said.
