A man was arrested here for raping his 12-year-old niece, police said Wednesday.
The girl's mother said in her complaint that she came to Gurgaon from Odisha with her two daughters - aged 12 and four years - a few months back and was staying with her sister and brother-in-law Dayaram.
She told police that she had gone to Odisha for some work May 10 but her elder daughter remained in her sister's house.
When she returned, her daughter said Dayaram raped her.
Police said medical examination confirmed sexual assault. Police Commissioner Alok Mittal told reporters: "The victim was raped several times between May 13 and 17."
A court here sent 35-year-old Dayaram, who works as a security guard, to judicial custody for 14 days.
