Rome, June 10 (IANS/AKI) A 53-year-old man in Italy has confessed to murdering his 46-year-old former partner by smashing her skull with a heavy vase and stabbing in the chest.
The man was arrested by police who tracked him down to Lake Garda, where he was reportedly wandering in a state of shock.
"We quarrelled, the argument turned nasty. I lost my mind," he told police on Thursday.
The murder took place on Wednesday, when the man went to his ex-partner's apartment.
The neighbours called police after hearing the woman's screams but by the time police arrived. her alleged killer had fled the scene.
The former couple had ended a long-term relationship last year, according to the investigators.
