Man held for raping daughter over five years in Haryana

A 40-year-old man was arrested here for raping his 14-year-old daughter multiple times over a period of five years, the police said on Saturday.

The accused Anil Singh, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, lived here and worked with a private company.

The accused had planned to frame his neighbour with a view to extort money by accusing him of sexually assaulting his daughter, Assistant Commissioner of Police Hawa Singh told IANS.

He then took his daughter to a police post with the complaint that she was sexually assaulted by his neighbour.

"During investigation, the minor girl disclosed that she had been assaulted by her own father for years," the officer said.

"The victim, a class 8 student, had been resisting and opposing her father's crimes, warning him of police complaint, but he never minded," the officer added.

The accused was married twice; his first wife eloped with her lover and the second died under mysterious circumstances a few years ago, said the police.

He lived with the victim and another daughter who is 10 years old.
