A man who rented luxury self-drive cars using fake IDs and later sold them has been arrested and seven cars recovered from him, police said on Wednesday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Ishwar Singh said accused Mukesh Chauhan, 31, was arrested from his native state Rajasthan.
In the past couple of months, police received five complaints from Vasant Kunj area about a man who took luxury self-drive cars on rent but did not return them, Singh said.
It was found that identity proof given by the accused while renting the cars were fake.
Later, police received a tip-off about Chauhan hiding in Ahore village in Rajasthan. He was arrested on June 1 while driving one of the stolen cars.
Chauhan told police he had many accomplices in the crime who sold the stolen cars in other states at cheaper prices.
