A man was found murdered at Congress leader Kumari Selja's house, here Monday. Police have detained two cooks as they had an argument with the deceased Sunday night.
Maid Manju spotted the body of her husband Sanjay, 42, at Selja's residence at about 8 a.m. near the servant's quarters of the former minister's house in central Delhi's Sunehri Bagh area.
Sanjay, a Sena Bhawan employee, was found lying in a pool of blood with injury marks on his head.
"He (Sanjay) had injury marks on his head. It looks like he was beaten with a rod and stones," a police official said.
Sanjay's sister-in-law Rakhi, 35, said he was having a dispute with Selja's cook, Anil, over vacating the servant quarters he and his wife were living in.
"They had several arguments on the same issue in the past," Rakhi told IANS.
Another relative said they (Sanjay and Anil) had a fight Sunday night also. The police, however, said they are ascertaining the facts and corroborating the evidences.
A source said former social justice and empowerment minister Kumari Selja was in the house when the body was spotted by Manju, who then informed the security guard.
Police have detained Anil and his aide, also a cook, who live in another room in the servant's quarters. Manju and other relatives have been questioned.
Manju told IANS she had decided to quit the job and leave the place due to the dispute and fights between Sanjay and Anil.
Additional Police Commissioner S.B.S. Tyagi told IANS: "We are very close to cracking the case."
