A day after a man was beaten to death in a road rage incident in the capital, another shocking case came to light when a car driver tried to run over a pedestrian after the man objected to his rash driving, police said on Tuesday.

The incident was reported from north Delhi's Sarai Rohilla area around 11 p.m. on Monday, when 24-year-old Ashu was walking on the road with his two friends.

Ashu claimed that Ankit Jain, the car driver, tried to mow him down when he scolded Jain for speeding.

Police said Jain came out of his vehicle and allegedly started beating Ashu, after he fell down on being hit by his car.

Jain, in his late 20s and a resident of Gujrawala in north Delhi, was arrested after the incident.

Ashu was admitted to a hospital with injuries on his head and legs. He was later discharged after first aid, police said.

"Ashu's friends intervened in the matter and called police. We have registered a case of rash and negligent driving against Ankit," said a police official.

This was the second incident of road rage in the city in two days.

A spat over yielding space in a traffic jam ended fatally for Shahnawaz, a resident of Mata Sundari Road, when his motorbike was hit by a car near Turkman Gate in Daryaganj around 11.30 p.m. on Sunday while he was returning home from a family function with his two minor sons.
