Singer-actress Mandy Moore admits dealing with the end of her six year-long marriage was "hard", but says she has moved on from the feeling of loss.

The "This Is Us" star never expected her union with rocker Ryan Adams would end in 2015 after six years, but had to make some hard choices in order to be happy. Now she feels like she is over the agony of the split, reports people.com.

"My story deviated in a different direction than I expected. But ultimately, life is about being happy and fulfilled and sometimes that means making hard choices.

"There are moments of being curled up in a ball on the floor. It's really hard. But I've moved on and progressed in the stages of grief and being angry and feeling the loss and all that. I do believe things happen for a reason. And I think I had that mantra moving through the trying times," Moore said.

She is now dating musician Taylor Goldsmith.

After splitting from Adams, 41, the 32-year-old realised her marriage had been holding her back from following her dreams.

"I wasn't a participant in my own life for a while.

"I poured so much of myself into my personal life and when that wasn't as fruitful as I hoped it would be and I extricated myself from that situation, I was able to realise I wasn't honouring myself and my dreams and what I wanted in life," Moore said.
