The grandson of former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi was arrested on Tuesday for murdering his wife and cremating her body, police said.
A police complaint was filed against Manjhi's daughter Sunaina Devi and four of her family members, including Manjhi's grandson Vicky, on Monday over her daughter-in-law Soni's death in Gaya, about 100 km from here.
The complaint was filed by Soni's father Ramdev Manjhi at the Delha police station in Gaya town, alleging that his daughter -- who was married to Vicky in 2008 -- was murdered for dowry.
"Manjhi's grandson Vicky was arrested in Gaya, and he confessed to his crime during interrogation," a police official said.
After his arrest, Vicky was taken by a police team to the cremation ground near the Vishnupad temple, where he cremated his wife.
Ramdev also told police that the accused cremated his daughter without informing his family.
