Maoist rebels on Thursday fired rockets and opened fire at an ITBP camp in Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh.

Senior Superintendent of Police of Kondagaon Santosh Singh said the three-hour-long attack was launched at the company base of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police in Ranapal area by a large number of Maoists who surrounded the camp from three sides.

"Four rockets were fired inside the camp. Both sides exchanged about 600 rounds of bullets. However, no casualty was reported among the ITBP personnel," Singh said, adding that "some 100 armed Maoists launched the attack".
