Maoists have gunned down two more tribals in Andhra Pradesh on the suspicion that they were acting as police informers, police said on Monday.

The extremists belonging to the Communist Party of India (Maoists) killed the two men in Burakavakota village in East Godavari district on Sunday, police said.

In a letter left behind, the banned outfit said the two were working as informers for a police sub-inspector and were even extorting money from people.

A police team rushed to the village and shifted the bodies to a government hospital.

Last week, the Maoists killed two tribal youths from the district after abducting them. The incident occurred in Kamanathogu village of Yetapaka mandal.

East Godavari and Visakhapatnam districts bordering Chhattisgarh are known for Maoist activity. The extremists had killed many tribals and other villagers in the region in the past on the suspicion of acting as police informers.
