singer Mariah Carey is reportedly in talks to join the judging panel of 'America's Got Talent' even though her estranged husband Nick Cannon is the host of the show.

"They want to tap Mariah to fill in just in case Mel B (Melanie Brown) needs some time off. Mariah has made it clear that she'd go for it if the scheduling worked out," said a source, reports aceshowbiz.co.uk.

Despite splitting from Carey, Cannon has given producers the green light to hire his estranged wife.

"He shocked everyone when he said it was a great idea. Having Mariah on the show would make it must-see TV," the insider added.

Judge Howard Stern, who recently confirmed he is leaving the NBC series after the current season, is also keen to have the "Obsessed" singer on board.

"Howard Stern would love to see that happen. He wants to get Mariah and Nick together and see some fireworks!," the source told Life & Style magazine.
