Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Saturday accused the BJP of ignoring the interests of farmers in states ruled by it.
Addressing her party's office bearers at the BSP office here, the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said the killing of six farmers in police firing in Madhya Pradesh had exposed the BJP.
"Farmers are being ignored, exploited and treated badly," she said, pointing out how the farmers were being cane charged wherever they protest under the watch of the BJP government.
She also accused the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh of trying to foment trouble by fanning communal passions and said there has been no progress or development in the past two months of the BJP regime.
It has just been promises and hollow announcements, she said.
The BSP chief also slammed the BJP government in the state for deferring the urban bodies elections, which were earlier scheduled for July.
Referring to the clashes in Saharanpur last month which left two dead and escalated tension between the Thakurs and Dalits, Mayawati accused the BJP government of dividing the state on caste and community basis for narrow political gains.
