Screenwriter Mayur Puri will pen the dialogues of the Hindi version of the upcoming Hollywood film "The Angry Birds Movie".
Puri, who wrote dialogues of Hindi version of "The Jungle Book" and "Captain America: Civil War", will be weaving magic to "The Angry Birds Movie" along with co-writers Taranveer Singh and Akshaye Rathi, read a statement.
Taking the basic structure of Rovio Entertainment's eponymous mobile game, the movie brings the game's action to the big screen in a witty manner.
In the game, angry but cute little birds fight it out with pigs which have stolen their eggs. It vouches to take the audience back in time, tracing the origin of the battle between the birds and pigs.
"The Angry Birds Movie" is releasing in India on Friday in English, Hindi and Tamil.
The film is supported by Jason Sudeikis as Red, Danny McBride as the volatile Bomb, Bill Hader as a pig, Josh Gad as Chuck, and Peter Dinklage as the Mighty Eagle. It will be distributed by Sony Pictures.
Vivek Krishnani, managing director of Sony Pictures India, shares: "For the Hindi version of 'The Angry Birds Movie', we needed story tellers who could trans-create rather than translate and for that we decided to bring on some of the best writing talent in our country."
"We are happy that Mayur and his team have delivered a supremely entertaining narrative with the right 'masala' ingredients to appeal to people of all ages," said Krishnani.
Divya Pathak, director - marketing, Sony Pictures India said: "In fact, we hope people will see value in watching the film in both languages".
Sharing his excitement at being a part of the film, Puri said: "I am so thrilled to be part of this movie and we are confident we can do justice to these immensely popular and beloved characters".
