Suspended Congress legislator Pynshngian N. Syiem on Friday resigned as member of the Meghalaya Assembly to join the newly-floated People's Democratic Front (PDF).
Syiem, who is also the Chief Executive Member of the Khasi Hill Autonomous District Council, was suspended from the primary membership of the party for anti-party activities in October 2016.
"I have submitted my resignation letter to Speaker (Abu Taher Mondal) as a member of the Assembly. My second step is to resign from the Congress," Syiem told journalists.
The former Congress legislator also announced he would formally join the PDF on December 19 and contest the upcoming 2108 assembly elections as its party candidate.
