The likes of Manoj Kumar, Sumit Sangwan, Mandeep Jangra will take part in the first Boxing India (BI) men's national championships Jan 8-14 at the Divisional Sports Complex here.
"A significant number of over 325 elite men boxers from 34 Boxing India affiliated member units inclusive of three boards will compete in the men's national championship 2014-15," BI said in a release.
In the week-long event, boxers belonging to all the 10 weight categories (46-49, 52, 56, 60, 64, 69,75, 81, 81, 91+kg) will compete.
"With almost 19 months left to the Rio Olympics 2016, the national championship is a perfect platform for our boxers to display their talent and prove their mettle," BI president Sandeep Jajodia said.
"We will continue to provide rigorous international and domestic exposure to our boxers, helping them deliver their best performances and do the nation proud."
