Former One Direction star Niall Horan thinks a man should always pay on a Valentine's Day date.
The 23-year-old singer has insisted he would always foot the cost of a meal on Valentine's Day. However, he is more open-minded about other aspects of dating, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
"Always pay for the whole thing, always," Horan told said on podcast Smallzy Surgery.
Horan said that he is less inclined to buy his date flowers and chocolates to mark the occasion, saying some women would be more appreciative of the gesture than others.
"It depends if you have any idea on what the girl is like. Some girls like it, some girls don't, so you kind of have to play it by ear."
The One Direction star also said he's okay with public display of affection with his dates.
"Again, it's a play-it-by-ear situation. You can't really call it."
