Argentinean footballer Lionel Messi lasted just eight minutes before leaving FC Barcelona's match at home to Las Palmas football club with a knee injury on Saturday.
The Barcelona ace was injured in a collision with Las Palmas defender Pedro Bigas in just the fourth minute of the game, Xinhua news agency reported.
He returned to the pitch after treatment but after taking a touch and trying a shot run, he signalled to the club dugout that he was unable to continue, he sat down and was carried off on a stretcher to be replaced by young forward Munir.
Early reports are that the striker has damaged his internal knee ligament and he will need to undergo further tests before the full extent of the injury is known.
