A MiG-21 Bison fighter of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed Monday while landing at Uttarlai airbase in Rajasthan's Barmer district, killing the pilot, an officer said.

The aircraft crashed at about 9.30 a.m. and the pilot "suffered fatal injuries", the officer said, adding the aircraft was on a routine training sortie.

No loss was reported to civilian life or property.

"A court of inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of crash," defence ministry spokesperson Colonel S.D. Goswami said.

This is the second incident of MIG crashing after taking off from Uttarlai airbase in over a month.
