Leaving behind the likes of 2010 film "Toy Story 3", American 3D computer-animated family comedy film "Minions" has become the second-highest grossing animated film of all time after Academy Award-winning 2013 film "Frozen".
Co-directed by Kyle Balda and Pierre Coffin, "Minions" minted a whopping $20.1 million on its opening day in China, thereby taking its worldwide box office to $1.08 billion, making it the 15th biggest film ever, reports ew.com.
With voice over of actors like Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm and Michael Keaton, "Minions" has surpassed "Toy Story 3", which earned $1.063 billion worldwide.
"Frozen", directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, made $1.27 billion globally. The film is the current record-holder for the biggest animated movie ever.
