A Punjab minister Wednesday demanded a probe into the alleged misdeeds of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra in land deals running into several crores of rupees.

Demanding a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe or an inquiry by a Supreme Court judge, Punjab's Revenue and Public Relations minister Bikram Singh Majithia said: "The whole nation is eagerly awaiting the exposure of dubious land deals made by Vadra."

Majithia, brother-in-law of Punjab Deputy Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal, said the Congress was adopting double standards on upright officers.

"On one hand, it is supporting Uttar Pradesh IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal and on the other, an upright (Haryana) IAS officer Ashok Khemka was being targeted and marginalised for his exposure of Vadra's land scams," Majithia said.

Vadra's land deals in Haryana adjoining Delhi have been questioned by Khemka.

He said the Congress-led UPA government at the centre was involved in several scams running in thousands of crores of rupees.
