A five-year-old boy abducted from Delhi by an engineering graduate has been rescued from Dadri in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh and the kidnapper arrested, police said on Wednesday.
Police said the 27-year-old accused Asif Saifi, a resident of Brahampuri Dadri, had kidnapped the boy on Monday, following which the latter's father lodged a missing complaint at Bhajanpura police station.
The accused, an M.Tech student preparing for the civil services examination, had demanded Rs 20 lakh as ransom, police said.
"With the help of local intelligence, a special team rescued the minor after the accused made the ransom call to the family by using a phone borrowed from a passer-by," Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East) A.K. Singla told reporters.
