The body of a railway engineer who went missing from a bridge construction site in Jharkhand's Latehar district was found on Thursday, the police said.
According to the police, Madhu Samjhdaar's body was found near a pond where he had apparently been killed.
It is suspected that the engineer was abducted and killed and his body was dumped in the pond.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
Samjhdaar, who went to inspect a railway bridge built by a private company in Bukru village, disappeared from the Maoist-dominated area on Tuesday evening. His family did not get any ransom call.
According to sources in the railways, Samjhdaar went missing after leaving the construction site office on receiving a phone call.
The Tori-Shivapuri rail line work is going on since 2002. The 42-km long line, monitored by the central government, has been expedited this year. It is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2017.
