Moderate earthquake jolts Uttarakhand

An earthquake of magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter scale rocked several parts of Uttarakhand early Thursday, an official said.

The meteorological department official told IANS that the tremor triggered panic, but no loss of life was reported.

The epicentre of the earthquake, which was of moderate intensity, was in Chamoli district. The quake lasted for a few seconds.
