Nearly 15 percent of the electorate turned out Wednesday in the first two hours of polling for Daman and Diu's lone parliamentary seat, an official said.
State polling official Rachna Gupta said 14.35 percent of the electorate voted till 9 a.m.
"Voting is picking up fast. There have been no problems with the electronic voting machines (EVMs)," Gupta said.
Incumbent MP Lalubhai Patel of the Bharatiya Janata Party faces Ketan Dahyabhai Patel of the Congress, Bhavesh Patel of the Bahujan Samaj Party and Kessur Goan of the Aam Aadmi Party.
Balloting is taking place at 119 polling stations.
Over 111,000 people are eligible to exercise their franchise in the union territory.
