Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed grief over the death of farmers' leader Sharad Joshi.
"PM expressed grief on passing away of Shri Sharad Joshi," twitter account of the Prime Minister of India said.
"Shri Joshi was devoted to welfare of farmers and improving agriculture," the tweet said.
Joshi, noted farmers' leader and former Rajya Sabha MP, died in Pune on Saturday. He was in his eighties.
He was the founder of Shetkari Sanghatana, an organisation for farmers of Maharashtra. He was also the founder of Swatantra Bharat party.
