Expressing grief over six Indian soldiers getting killed in avalanches in Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the authorities have been directed to carry out search and rescue operations.
The Army said that it lost six soldiers in two avalanches which hit army posts and patrols on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district on Wednesday.
"Deeply saddened at the death of our Veer jawans (brave soldiers) in an avalanche in Kashmir. Have directed the authorities for speedy search and rescue operations," Modi said on Twitter.
