Modi greets Brazil on Independence Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday greeted the people of Brazil on the Independence Day of the south American nation.

"Best wishes to the people of Brazil on their Independence Day. India and Brazil have strong and long-standing cooperation in many areas," Modi said in a statement.

"I see great potential for India-Brazil ties to grow even further, which will benefit the people of both our nations," the prime minister added.

Brazil declared its independence from Portugal on September 7, 1822.
