Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday arrived in Madhya Pradesh's Mandla district to address the Panchayat bodies and the indigenous communities.
Earlier he tweeted: "National Panchayati Raj Day is an occasion to celebrate the efforts of all those who are a part of our vibrant Panchayati Raj institutions.
"These institutions foster a spirit of democracy and further the development aspirations of our citizens."
Modi will be inaugurating a National Panchayati Raj Day programme in Ramnagar; address a rally on Adivasi Diwas, and unveil a road map for the overall development of tribals in five years, a release from the Prime Minister's Office in Delhi said.
Ramnagar, situated on the banks of River Narmada, has been decorated in a grand manner.
In keeping with the government's commitment towards a clean, healthy and electrified India, Modi will felicitate village heads with 100 per cent smokeless kitchens, 100 per cent vaccination under Mission Indradhanush and total electrification under the Saubhagya Scheme.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of an LPG bottling plant of the Indian Oil Corporation at Maneri and launch a local government directory.
He will also interact with District Collectors of certain districts of the state.
According to officials, the Prime Minister started from Delhi around 9.50 a.m. and reached Jabalpur's Dumna Airport from where he took a helicopter and reach Mandla.
He will leave for New Delhi at 2.55 p.m.
