Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met over 60 athletes who will be representing India at the forthcoming Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and wished them the very best.
The Prime Minister met each athlete individually at the Manekshaw Centre here, besides interacting informally with them. He encouraged the athletes to perform to the best of their ability in the world's biggest sporting arena, said a Prime Minister's Office (PMO) statement.
Several former Olympians including MC Mary Kom, Anju Bobby George and P. Gopichand were among those present at the gathering.
Over 100 Indian athletes from 13 different disciplines have qualified for the Rio Olympics.
Over 200 nations will be participating in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro scheduled to begin on August 5.
Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Jitendra Singh was also present on the occasion.
